About the podcast
The inspireland podcast: Talking to interesting people: Doing interesting things. Through fortnightly long-format interviews, with interesting people from my native Ireland and around the world, I hope to influence what my listeners think, and talk, about.
I’m in the process of contacting, hounding, berating, threatening and persuading people from a wide variety of fields to come on the podcast. It’s all about the guests and so far I’ve had some of my heroes and this doesn’t look like stopping any time soon.
The blog’s most recent development has been the birth of the 30 Days Challenges. One of the by-products of talking to interesting people is that it’s inspired me to do interesting things, albeit on a humbler scale. Inspire yourself by getting involved with our challenges or doing your own.
I’ve been delighted by the response from listeners so far and the show has twice made it to the New & Noteworthy section on iTunes.
I teach in a community college in my native Dublin on the media and journalism courses. I have 4 kids, a patient wife, and 5 goldfish.
I love films, podcasts, books, essays, the Dubs, wrestling, and drinking tea.
In my time I have worked in a wide variety of jobs including, but not limited to:
- Bicycle courier: 1 day
- Painter/decorator: 2 mid-term breaks.
- Carpenter’s assistant: 3 months
- Building site labourer: 1 year
- Forklift & van driver in the Dublin fruit market: 5 years part-time
- College tutor: 13 years
- Order picker in a plumber’s suppliers: 2 summer holidays
- Van loader in a parcel factory: 10 horrible night shifts
- Petrol pump attendant: 6 months
